This lesson is another in the series of lessons on short, popular bass riffs. This week we’ll be looking at the disco classic Ain’t No Stopping Us Now by Mcfadden & Whitehead.
As a supplement to the basic lesson, I’ll be analysing the riff and showing how you can use the basic building blocks of the melody and rhythm to come up with your own cool bass lines.
TalkingBass is one seriously useful learning tool for the seriously interested bassist from beginner to expert/pro levels.

Thanks for creating such an amazingly useful tool. Your resources are the only ones i’m using at the moment. Your method of teaching makes understanding Theory much easier as a beginner.
The App Rocks! Love it!
Good things can happen if you just keep practicing, if I can do it , you can do it.
Don’t give up if your new to bass guitar , it may take a while but it will come together, it did for me.
I’ve been trying to play for a long time , don’t give up, keep going.
Mark yesterday I couldn’t get it but today its falling in to place for some reason.
Its like I had brain blockage yesterday and the day before but today I get it.
I don’t know why that is but I think its just practice, practice , practice.
Then more practice.

Everyday that goes by WITHOUT me watching or re-watching one of Mark’s lessons… is a day with wasted space. I learn something every single time and I cant help smiling too… Thank you!!
great lesson as always very clear and easy to follow. I don’t want to sound ungratefull but where’s the intro. i’ll have to go to someone elses tutorial. and they don’t have your tutoring skills.
Mark is absolutely right in stating this riff has some ‘good abs’ Lol. It was a ton of fun getting it down (or at least trying) and it’s really useful rhythmically given the 16th notes and also in terms of using 7th chords, which for me as a lover of jazz is always very welcome. Great stuff again!!!! Ta Mark and Talkingbass. Thank you!!!!!!!
Your thumb looks much further round the neck than i was shown. left hand pain is big issue for me! a little confused now…
Been playing as a scrub since 1976… Never have I learned so much! Thanks!!!
As a drummer turned bass player, I always loved this bass line back in the late 70’s. Now I can learn it and it is a great aid. Thanks Mark, really enjoy this one!!
