Tina Weymouth’s Unique Bass Style – Psycho Killer Bass Lesson

In this lesson, I break down the iconic bass line from Psycho Killer by Talking Heads and take a closer look at Tina Weymouth’s unique playing style.

This is a bass line that often gets recommended to beginners because the notes are simple and repetitive. But if you try to play it the same way Tina does, it becomes a lot more interesting. Tina uses a distinctive right-hand approach, playing the lower notes with the thumb and the higher notes with the fingers, giving the line its own unique feel and attack.

In the video, I’ll show you how the bass line works, how to approach the technique, and why a simple groove like this can still be a challenge when you focus on the detail and feel.
