Excellent advice! Thank you for explaining the importance of this. I was self taught as a teen and now at 51 started to really learn bass, mostly through your site. I recently started reading with the Hal Leonard Bass book and these lessons reinforced the importance of it. I never thought I would be able to read music, but once you start, and go slow, it is much easier than I thought. My next goal is to become fluent. Thanks!
PS. I also like how you described this as building neural pathways. I teach Psychology in high school, and often talk about that.
