This week we’re continuing our look at jazz standard practice by creating a walking bass line through the Charlie Parker jazz blues ‘Billie’s Bounce’.
Walking Bass Lines are the most important area of jazz study for bass players and this bebop blues progression is one of the most common sequences for practice.
As usual, your lessons are very good. Before you started the lessons on Billie’s Bounce, I had been working on learning the melody line. I found that playing this line at the high end on the neck on the second time through added an extra dimension in a group setting. Note that this will not work if you play a bass with less than 24 frets. Otherwise, you will be jumping between octaves.
Love this walking progression . . .
Loving the whole process of going through Billie’s Bounce. Learning so much. Please continue with more like this.
This is a great first step for me. Thanks!
