Steve sounds unlike any other bass player on planet Earth and had dedicated his life to pushing the boundaries of solo improvisation through his use of multi channel loopers, bass effects and sample triggers.

With his wondrous rig and a bass guitar, Steve is able to concoct awe inspiring, cinematic soundscapes mixed with hip hop rhythms and jazzy melodies – all improvised, in real time.

In this video we’ll delve into every aspect of Steve’s musical process from the influence of modern producers like J Dilla through to the improvisational role in his music. With bass in hand, Steve also demonstrates his approach to using bass effects and looping in a live setting.
