Today we’re going to breakdown the main bass lines from the song Keep It Greasy from Frank Zappa’s Joe’s Garage album. Now any of you that know anything about Zappa’s music will know that Keep It Greasy is a notoriously difficult song, mostly because of the 19/16 and 21/16 time signatures and the insane drumming by Vinnie Colauita. But it’s not just the drums that shine in this tune. The bass line (mostly slap bass) played by the amazing Arthur Barrow is a real challenge for many different reasons.
