Over the past few weeks we’ve looked at the Jazz Standard Billie’s Bounce. We’ve worked on the melody and we’ve analysed the harmony and chord tones by way of learning the arpeggios of each chord. This week we’re going to delve a little deeper into the chords by learning them on the bass. We’ll be learning the dominant 7, minor 7 and diminished 7 chords on bass and playing through the Billie’s Bounce chord progression with a simple jazz comp pattern.

You can’t. Next question.

Mark! These videos are excellent, as are the materials you present in your various courses. I’m making some real progress, thanks to you.
It WOULD be helpful if it were possible to slow down the videos. Perhaps I don’t have the tech skills to make that happen.
Thank you!
D’oh! Got it! I’ll just watch with YouTube when I need to.
Great little series of lessons Mark!
Thanks
Hi Mark,
your “chromatic movement” – Bb7 to Bdim7 – is just one note on the A-String. There you switch the fingering and the difference, this one chromatic step, can hardly be heard, realized.
Is there a (good) reason why you are doing it this way?
I tried to add just my pinky onto the B, so four fingers are on the fretboard at the same time for just a little moment. But doing it this way (minimal movement) I can accent, point out this little step, make it be heard.
The difference is even more clear playing arpeggios over this passage. Then you realy can point out this little change.
Best regards from southern germany
Uwe.
PS I am no pro, all I know about bass playing I’ ve learned from you. So thanks for that :)
