This week we’re looking at the HEAVIEST BASS RIFF IN THE WORLD EVER (in my humble opinion!) in the shape of Ace Of Spades by Motorhead, played by the legendary, late, great LEMMY!
Ace Of Spades
Ace Of Spades is the title track from the album by Motorhead. This song is a great example of Lemmy’s huge bass tone generated from his Rickenbacker 4001 played through a Marshall stack.
In terms of tone, go hard on the gain and high on the treble!
Important Note: The bass is detuned by a half step (Eb, Ab, Db, Gb). All music below is written as if in standard tuning for ease of reading. Simply detune your bass to play along to the original
Coolest I’ve seen. Probably the fastest too. Your videos are all great and easy to follow. Hopefully I will get fast enough to play some metal some day.
Hi. In this YouTube video Carol Kaye talks about chord tones (as opposed to scale tones). Can you explain this because it seems very powerful.
Thank you,
Radzewicz

Many thanks for this great tutorial.
Hi Mark, great tutorial! What type of distortion pedal do you use to get the Marshall stack effect?
Many thanks,
Nigel.
