This lesson we look at how finger permutations can be used to create a meditative exercise to help with finger co-ordination and independence.

Finger Permutations

These sequences work through all the possible finger combinations in two, three and four-note lines. They are designed to be enjoyed in a relaxed mannor and as a supplement to your usual practice routine. The aim is to improve your coordination and finger strength, meaning repetition is key.

Each finger is assigned to a fret  and numbered as follows:

  • Index – 1
  • Middle – 2
  • Ring – 3
  • Pinky – 4

Tips:

  • Don’t play too quick to begin with
  • Concentrate on consistent time, tone and accuracy
  • Focus on the feeling of moving between the fingers
  • Concentrate on alternate picking
  • Keep both hands relaxed at all times

Play Each Permutation across all strings
